The short version

Season Reel has no accounts, no advertising and no login. It does not sell anything and does not sell anyone's data. It measures how many people open which page, and nothing that identifies who they are.

What is measured

Page views are counted using Cloudflare Web Analytics, which records the page opened, the referring site, the country, and the broad device and browser type. Cloudflare states that it does not use cookies or client-side storage for this, and does not track visitors between sites or build a profile of them.

The reason it exists is narrow and worth stating: it shows which clubs and seasons people actually want, which is what decides what gets built next.

What is stored on your device

No cookies are set by this site. Three small preferences are kept in your browser's local storage, each written only when you do something that asks for it:

• the region you picked, if you changed it;
• whether you chose light or dark;
• whether you have seen the opening animation, so it does not replay every visit.

They never leave your device, and clearing your browser data removes them.

When you press play

Highlights are not hosted here. They are embedded from YouTube, from the accounts of the rights holders who published them. Nothing is requested from YouTube until you actually press play — until then you are looking at a still image — and the embed uses YouTube's youtube-nocookie.com domain, which does not set its usual tracking cookies for visitors who never start a video.

Once you do press play, you are watching a YouTube player, and Google's privacy policy and terms apply to that playback. That part is outside this site's control.

If you send feedback

The feedback form sends exactly what you see in it: the reason you picked, anything you typed, the page you were on, plus the country your request arrived from and your browser's identification string. Those last two exist so a report of "the video will not play" can be reproduced.

Reports become entries in a private issue tracker read only by the person who builds this. Your IP address is not recorded. Please do not type anything personal into the box — it is not needed, and there is no reply address attached to it.

Fixture data

Match dates, results and club names come from football-data.org and are fetched when the site is built, not when you visit. Your visit sends nothing to them.

What never happens

No advertising, no advertising networks, no third-party trackers beyond the YouTube player described above, no selling or sharing of data, no cross-site tracking, no profiling, no email list, no accounts, and no IP addresses stored.
